The Story

I learnt this recipe from my mother. Sundays are special in my house because of the amazing lunch we traditionally eat together. And Rajma Chawal (kidney bean curry with rice) was a pretty regular affair in my house. My mother always cooked this with a little extra love, so we all enjoyed this meal more at dinner. This is my comfort food, and now I like to cook this myself, especially on Sundays when I’m missing home here in Stockholm. A bowl of this takes me back to my house in Delhi and my family.

Food has always been a great conversation starter and connector since I moved to Sweden. I have interacted over food and made friends while sharing a meal. I have had amazing conversations and amazing friends because of food. In terms of Indian food, the people I’ve met are really curious about it. I have shared quite a few recipes with my corridor mates and at work, and I have enjoyed the grocery shopping here in Sweden too.

I really love this recipe and this is something that I have learnt from my mother. I really hope you’ll enjoy cooking this as well. It’s simply a little something from India that I’d like to share with everyone. I really love this recipe and hope you’ll enjoy cooking this as well.
